Sean Ware is a painter, illustrator, and educator, constantly exploring and creating in the forests of coastal Maine. Driven by a love for the outdoors, nature, and travel, his work looks at the steady change of everyday surroundings and environments. As a plein air painter, he enjoys capturing these moments from direct observation. This process is often a balance of small gouache sketches made in the field, larger oil and acrylic paintings in the studio, and ink wash drawings, each prompting and informing the others. Outside of painting, his creative pursuits include ceramics, printmaking, and digital illustration.

Originally from Kentucky, he received his MFA in painting from the University of New Hampshire. Sean has taught art across the Unites States, at institutions including Ringling College of Art & Design and his alma mater, Berea College.
